Simon Reynolds is a Principal in Spruson & Ferguson’s Engineering & ICT team. Simon is a Registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney and a Registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney having qualified for registration in 2007.

Simon’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, conducting patent oppositions; and advising on patentability, patent validity, patent infringement and litigation. Simon’s experience encompasses a range of technologies including embedded systems, distributed computer systems, quantum computing technologies, artificial intelligence technologies, blockchain technologies, website architectures, telecommunication systems, defence technologies, search engine architectures, local and distributed malicious software scanning systems, software code generators, printing devices, digital signal processing, and security systems.

Prior to entering the patent profession, Simon worked for an Australian company providing geology and mine planning software, supporting open pit and underground operations and exploration projects.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering (Honours) from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology, Sydney. Simon’s honours research involved the development and implementation of a compiler for an Intel microprocessor.

Simon is a fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA) and a member of IPSANZ.
